A dermatologist

A dermatologist is an expert medical doctor and skin surgeons with the skills and experience to offer the best care for the skin. The skin is an organ, which is your first line of defense from a disease.

If you were to watch a dermatologist on any day of work, you might see them:

- Treat a baby's prominent birth mark that threatens the child's eyesight.

- Remove a woman's deadly melanoma at its earliest.

- Offer relief for a young person whose chronic eczema makes sleep nearly imposible.

- Diagnose the life-threatening liver condition, causing an old man's unbearable itching.

- Treat the hair loss of a young girl.

Your dermatologist knows the difference between a little problem and a major one. They also understand that a skin condition can have a serious impact in your health and well-being.

Sometimes, a skin condition is a sign of a serious underlying health issue. For example, signs of diabetes and heart disease can show up on the skin.

For being a dermatologist you have to do:

1. Four years of college for earning a bachelor's degree.

2. Four years of medical school to become a medical doctor.

3. A year-long internship in medicine.

4. Three years of residency in dermatology, working alongside experienced doctors and completing 12000 to 16000 hours of treating patients.
